We only had about one minute and a half in "Totality", meaning the Moon directly over the Sun, that meant I only had 90 seconds to make any shutter adjustments, shoot, see the results and adjust shutter to manage how much light was coming in and what results I wanted from the shot. West Coast Roadtrip 2017 included witnessing the Solar Eclipse. We learned about it about three years ago and incorporated it into our plans. As we traveled north we made plans to join the crowd and watch the spectacle in a huge field with nothing but spectators in Madras, Oregon , but as we drove towards our campsite some 60 miles north we were hearing about the traffic jams heading into another city nearby and we opted to just park at the dead-end of a Home Depot where about 20 other groups gathered in Redding, Oregon.
